Kontron has introduced two new computers, KBox F-203-RPS and KBox F-204-RPS under the KBox F-Series, which is meant to boost Industry 4.0, IoT in industrial applications, and edge computing tasks. These computers feature configurable computing power, networking and expandability features fulfilling different industry needs.
Both of the computers include Intel S-Series processors, i3, i5, i7, and i9, which belong to the 12th, 13th, and 14th generations. They can handle thermal design power of maximum 65 watts. Max memory capacity of both computers can be maximized to be 96 GB RAM of DDR5 type.
The KBox F-203-RPS provides flexible networking features, consisting of 2 or 4 inbuilt Gigabit Ethernet ports. The 2-port version is designed for regular industrial computing applications and machinery control, while the 4-port variant is meant to be used in cases when multiple devices or network sections are involved in terms of applications dealing with machine vision or automation.
For cases where flexibility in hardware is key, the KBox F-204-RPS comes equipped with 1 PCIe x16 or 2 PCIe x8 slots. This helps in expansion that can be used in accordance with computer setups. Together, the two systems claim to give manufacturers a choice between a connectivity-focused industrial computer and a more expandable platform.
