A global leader in logistics process automation and part of Toyota Industries Corporation, Vanderlande has opened its India Innovation Centre in Pune, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion of engineering capabilities in the region. The facility positions India as Vanderlande’s second-largest technology hub worldwide, after its headquarters in the Netherlands.
Spread across two acres, the Innovation Centre is designed as a collaboration-led facility where engineers can co-create, test, and innovate end-to-end solutions. The centre will focus on critical areas including robotic automation, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and digital-physical integration. These innovations will support Vanderlande’s global customer base across warehousing, airports, and parcel handling domains.
The facility integrates research and development, system testing, and training functions under one roof. This integrated approach enables teams to work more closely on the full engineering lifecycle, from initial design through implementation and testing of the company’s market-leading automation systems. The environment empowers current and future employees to work on real-world applications while deepening their technical expertise.
The launch of the Innovation Centre marks an important evolution in Vanderlande India’s journey as a Global Capability Centre. Over the years, the organization has grown from a small support office into a 1,300-member global capability centre spanning research and development, software development, core engineering disciplines, and shared services.
The Innovation Centre represents the next phase of this evolution, moving the focus from execution to innovation-driven operations. This shift underscores Vanderlande’s long-term commitment to nurturing talent, expanding high-value engineering roles, and accelerating innovation from India.
