AMETEK has completed its $5 billion acquisition of Indicor Instrumentation, bringing a broad portfolio of industrial and scientific instrumentation businesses into its operations. The deal is one of AMETEK’s largest strategic moves and expands its position in specialised markets where measurement, testing and process reliability are critical.
The transaction was first announced in May, when it agreed to acquire the businesses in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $5 billion. At the time, Indicor Instrumentation was generating around $1.1 billion in annual sales.
Company says the acquired portfolio will contribute about $350 million to its 2026 sales and modestly increase adjusted earnings this year. The businesses are being split between it’s Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group based on their products and markets.
Indicor’s businesses operate in industrial and scientific applications where customers depend on specialised equipment and ongoing services, consumables and aftermarket support. That creates recurring revenue alongside the initial equipment sale, an attractive model as it continues to build a portfolio around specialised industrial technology.
AMETEK has been using acquisitions to broaden its technology base and add businesses that can be integrated into its operating model . It has previously added First Aviation Services and LKC Technologies, following earlier acquisitions such as FARO Technologies.
It is becoming a broader industrial technology platform beyond a collection of individual instrumentation businesses. The Indicor acquisition strengthens that direction.
