Self-service is moving from a convenience feature to a way for businesses to handle routine tasks without tying up frontline staff. Zebra Technologies is targeting that shift with its new KC401 kiosk, an Android-based self-service device designed for retail, hospitality, manufacturing and healthcare.
The 10-inch kiosk is built to handle everyday interactions such as product and inventory checks, routine enquiries and other transactions that would otherwise require an employee.
The KC401 is designed for environments where devices take a beating. Its impact-tested, scratch-resistant display and IP65 sealing are intended to handle dust, liquid exposure and frequent cleaning. An optional scanner adds hands-free scanning for tasks such as price checks, loyalty identification and returns.
The kiosk runs with Zebra DNA software for device setup, security and management, while existing CC6000 customers can use the same mounting infrastructure for a more straightforward upgrade.
In manufacturing and warehouses, the same model can support frontline information access and routine workflows. Zebra’s KC401 is ultimately about turning routine interactions into self-service workflows, while keeping frontline employees focused on the tasks that still need people.
