Varex Imaging’s proposed merger with Teledyne Technologies has cleared a key approval step, putting the spotlight on technologies used in industrial X-ray inspection, non-destructive testing and automated quality control.
Varex’s imaging component business will be integrated into Teledyne’s comprehensive digital imaging, instrumentation and sensing business.
For manufacturers, industrial X-ray imaging is significant for ensuring that components that cannot be inspected by traditional visual means are adequately evaluated. The systems operate by detecting defects and material inconsistencies as well as structural issues without affecting the tested item. Among other things, these capabilities are useful for electronic equipment production, car parts inspection, and aerospace industry processes and practices.
Varex produces X-ray tubes, digital detectors and a variety of imaging components used in medical and industrial sectors. Its industrial equipment includes vision systems that allow non-destructive testing and material assessment. Teledyne is a key global player in the industry of imaging, sensing and instrumentation, supplying equipment for a variety of implementation scenarios.
