HD Hyundai Robotics is expanding its collaboration with Palantir Technologies to apply physical AI to industrial robotics, with a focus on improving robot programming and on-site problem-solving.
The companies are integrating AI agents, simulation and engineering expertise into robot deployment workflows. AI agents assess current robot applications and offer enhancements, which engineers then interpret and improve based on their knowledge and experience.
HD Hyundai Robotics predicts that this method will lessen the cost of programming robots by more than half. The introduction of AI agents into the companies’ problem-solving sequence in August allowed them to cut down the average time for a task from 21.5 days to 7.9 days, which is a 63% improvement.
Additionally, a new role for engineers working on site is to be created. Instead of concentrating only on programming, these specialists will be trained to become field solutions specialists that will be able to observe the production process and offer solutions based on AI equipment.
HD Hyundai Robotics announced the details of the collaboration during the company’s presentation at Palantir’s Sovereignty Bootcamp held in New York, where CTO Ahn Sung-hwan explained the approach towards physical AI developments and the results of cooperation with Palantir.
The collaboration shows a growing push to use AI not only to analyse industrial data, but also to improve how robots are programmed, deployed and adapted to real-world production challenges.
