The company’s recently launched Meet at the Machine brings machine builders, software and automation technologies together to shorten the path from machine delivery to productive machining.
Manufacturers often start production preparation only after a machine has been installed. With this initiative they want to shift that process earlier, allowing users to program, simulate and validate production while the machine is still being built.
This reduces the lag and the delivery date becomes closer to the point at which production can begin.
Siemens says the connected approach can reduce ramp-up time by up to 50%, by bringing engineering software, automation and machine expertise into the same workflow.
