Elmo Motion Control has completed Functional Safety certification for its Titanium servo-drive range, giving machine builders a certified motion platform that combines compact design, high power density and advanced safety functions.
The certification covers Titanium drives for both conventional industrial settings and harsh operating environments. The range supports up to SIL 3, PL e, Category 4, and FSoE (Fail Safe over EtherCAT), with 20 integrated safety functions available across the certified architecture. This moves safety deeper into the motion-control system rather than treating it as a separate layer of external hardware.
The Titanium portfolio includes compact single- and dual-axis drives for industrial machinery as well as ruggedised versions designed for demanding environments. Elmo’s Titanium architecture also uses Gallium Nitride (GaN) power switching technology, which enables faster switching and improved efficiency in a smaller footprint.
For machine builders, integrating safety directly into the servo drive can reduce the need for additional safety components and complex cabling. This is particularly relevant as robotics, semiconductor equipment, autonomous systems and high-performance automation machines continue to pack more axes and functionality into increasingly compact designs.
