Chemical recycling that transforms end-of-life plastic waste into TACOIL, a recycled oil used as feedstock for virgin-quality recycled plastics, is the field Plastic Energy leads. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in London, with industrial plants in Almeria and Seville, Spain, it runs its plants 24/7 and partners with companies such as SABIC and TotalEnergies to process hard-to-recycle plastics, diverting them from landfill and incineration in support of a circular economy. The company has expanded worldwide, with projects in the Netherlands, France, and Malaysia, and employs more than 200 people across the UK, Spain, Singapore, and Malaysia. Recognized for its sustainability work, it contributes to policies such as the UN Plastics Treaty and has commercialized TACOIL for products such as Magnum ice-cream tubs.
