Lithion Technologies, set up in 2018, is a Canadian company headquartered in Anjou, Québec, specializing in sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling. Its patented two-step process—mechanical extraction of black mass and hydrometallurgical recovery—recycles up to 95% of battery components, producing strategic materials like lithium, nickel, and cobalt with 75% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than mining. Operating its first commercial plant, Lithion Saint-Bruno, near Montreal, the facility processes over 20,000 tons of batteries annually, equivalent to 45,000 electric vehicles.
