Tracing its roots to 1884 in Meckesheim, Germany, Herbold Meckesheim GmbH is a recognized authority on plastic recycling systems, supplying both individual machines and turnkey plants for processing clean as well as contaminated plastic scrap. Hillenbrand Inc. acquired the firm in 2022, after which it became part of Coperion's Recycling Business Unit, allowing it to pair recycling lines with compounding and extrusion technology. Granulators in the SMS and SML series, shredders in the EWS and HR series, PU-series pulverizers, and washing lines for PET, PE, and PP make up the catalogue, with material purity reaching as high as 99%. Employing more than 250 people across a 16,000 m2 plant, Herbold sells into Germany, the wider European market, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Customer-specific materials are trialled at its technical center so that recycling setups can be fine-tuned before delivery.
