Excir, set up in 2018, is a Canadian cleantech company, specializing in the sustainable extraction and recycling of precious metals from electronic waste (e-waste), spent catalysts, and mining sources. Its patented lixiviant-based technology recovers 99%+ of gold, silver, palladium, and copper from e-waste, such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), in seconds at room temperature, using an eco-friendly, recyclable solution with negligible environmental impact. Excir’s process is notably implemented in partnership with The Royal Mint in a 3,700-square-meter Precious Metals Recovery factory in South Wales, operational since August 2024, processing up to 4,000 tonnes of PCBs annually. The company also focuses on spent catalysts, like catalytic converters, and is developing offerings for mining to replace cyanide-based methods. Its technology supports a circular economy, with traceable, ethically sourced metals and applications in jewellery, electronics, and industrial sectors.
