Water networks are becoming more connected, but connectivity only matters if utilities can turn the data into faster decisions. ABB is now pushing in that direction with AquaMaster+, a digital platform launched in India to help water utilities monitor flow, pressure and device performance across distribution networks.
The Indian government’s Jal Jeevan Mission already calls for district metering areas, SCADA and sensor-based systems to reduce non-revenue water ( NRW) – the water used by the utility which gets lost . Its guidelines also distinguish between physical losses such as leakage and apparent losses caused by inaccurate measurement or unauthorised use. ABB’s platform is designed to bring those problems closer to the operator’s screen.
AquaMaster+ provides fleet-level visibility through GIS mapping and device-level data covering flow and pressure changes, diagnostics and events. Utilities can also remotely configure and manage connected devices instead of sending teams to the field for every adjustment.
ABB says around 2,000 AquaMaster electromagnetic flowmeters are already operating across 15 Indian cities in eight states, including Bengaluru, Rajasthan, Odisha and Delhi. The new platform can work with AquaMaster4 meters or operate as a standalone software layer.
Another feature is virtual flowmeter modelling, allowing operators to compare network conditions and test scenarios before acting.
