Post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics from end-of-life durable goods, cars, electronics, appliances, and household equipment, are the specialty of MBA Polymers, Inc., a global leader in plastic recycling. Using proprietary, patented technologies with more than 20 separation processes, it converts complex waste streams such as automotive shredder residue (ASR) and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) into high-quality ABS, HIPS, PP, and PE granulates comparable to virgin plastics. Founded in 1997, the company runs facilities in Austria, China, Germany, India, the UK, and the US, processing more than 150,000 metric tons a year and saving up to 4.8 tons of CO2 per ton of recycled plastic versus virgin production, a 90% reduction. It serves automotive, electronics, and consumer-goods customers, including Ford, HP, Canon, and LEONI. Its Worksop, UK facility, fully owned by EMR since 2017, processes 40,000 MT a year, and a 2024 initiative focuses on direct recycling of car bumpers.
