AI Agents Scale Inside the Workforce in TCS

What happened:  IT firm is moving toward holding equal numbers of employees and AI agents with time to come – TCS Chairman said in its AGM. Company as a result will hire fewer people.

Why it matters: Wider AI agents would reduce hiring at TCS and across the sector as tasks become automated, while new roles also emerge which will be employee handled and slowly move to Agents when automaton. 

Industry context: Indian IT sector, valued at $315 billion has been facing concerns of AI led disruption to its labour-intensive model. 

Our take: The statement signals a structural shift in how large IT  players plan to staff future work, with automation absorbing the growing volume.
