Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems introduced GREEN SCREW OIL, a plant-derived lubricant for oil-flooded screw air compressors that reduces lifecycle CO₂ emissions by approximately 40% compared to conventional synthetic oils.
Hitachi plans expanding the initiative to Sullair-branded compressors within Hitachi Global Air Power and to oil-free air compressor lines. The company estimates that replacing all Group air compressor lubricants with plant-based alternatives could eliminate over 2,000 tons of annual CO₂ emissions globally.
The product supports Hitachi’s sustainability strategy under the Inspire 2027 management plan, specifically the Planet pledge targeting decarbonization. Air compressors serve manufacturing and infrastructure applications extensively, making emissions reduction in this segment meaningful for industrial sustainability targets.
