Rockwell Automation has introduced new SecureOT capabilities to help machine builders identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities, strengthen machine security and prepare for emerging regulatory requirements.
The enhanced version aims at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with compliance concerns relating to the European Union Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) along with the Machinery Regulation. Both laws have been encouraging manufacturers to focus on cybersecurity aspects when designing machines. It also focuses on maintaining the documentation during the lifespan of the equipment.
The SecureOT platform offers machine-level visibility of assets, vulnerability assessment and compliance reporting, thus enabling OEMs to develop inventories related to both hardware and software components and identify vulnerabilities.
Rockwell’s OEM Advantage Playbook found that nearly 2 in 5 OEMs are already navigating changing compliance requirements. Moreover, 63% expect cyber risks to remain a concern. Through SecureOT, Rockwell aims to help OEMs move from reactive security measures towards continuous vulnerability management. The expanded capabilities highlight the growing role of operational technology cybersecurity in machine development.
