Industrial companies have plenty of data. The harder problem is turning it into decisions that engineers can actually use. L&T Technology Services (LTTS) and Cognite are targeting that gap with a new partnership focused on bringing AI into day-to-day industrial operations.
The two companies will combine LTTS’ engineering, manufacturing and asset-lifecycle expertise with Cognite’s industrial AI and data platform to develop solutions for asset-heavy sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, LNG, mining and industrial manufacturing.
LTTS has already established a dedicated Cognite Centre of Excellence and certified more than 50 engineers. The teams will also develop sector-specific applications covering predictive maintenance, digital twins and operational intelligence.
Their initial project with a global top-10 oil and gas company will replace manual mechanical-integrity process with a contextualised digital workflow. This is expected to better operational performance as engineers get the right asset information faster, identify risks earlier and reduce the likelihood of downtime and safety events.
Instead of adding AI as another dashboard or analytics layer, the companies are putting it inside existing engineering workflows where decisions about equipment condition, maintenance and operational risk are already being made.
For LTTS, the deal also expands its Engineering Intelligence proposition with Cognite’s industrial data capabilities. For Cognite, LTTS brings engineering and industry knowledge needed to turn industrial AI technology into deployable applications.
