Sona Comstar Commits ₹62.6 Crore to Enter Robotics Components Business

What happened: Sona Comstar has approved capital expenditure of ₹62.6 crore to set up a new business making components and systems for advanced robotics. This is a diversification beyond the automative core for the firm.

Why it matters: The investment lets the company access new end markets and broaden its product range. A key player in automotive components, particularly for electric vehicles- the robotics venture aims to reduce reliance on traditional automotive applications and open longer-term growth paths.

Industry context: The step builds on its partnership with German firm NEURA Robotics ( announced in 2025)  to jointly develop advanced robotics, industrial automation, and humanoid technologies for India and global markets. With rising global demand for robotics across manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and industrial operations. It plans to apply its precision engineering and manufacturing expertise to the segment.
