What happened: Viam and Tech Mahindra have announced a partnership to scale advanced robotics and automation. Tech Mahindra’s global enterprise clients will gain direct access to Viam’s platform for managing and maintaining robotic fleets.
Why it matters: Viam’s software is hardware-agnostic and cloud-agnostic, letting clients manage robots with visibility and control similar to IT systems. The companies look to solve for enterprise difficulties around software, deployment speed, and integration with existing systems and remote fleet management, predictive and preventive maintenance, and over-the-air software updates as direct use cases for its combined offerings.
Industry context: Enterprises are adopting robotics across manufacturing, logistics, and industrial settings. The two firms showed a robotics teleoperation demonstration at Hannover Messe in April, featuring two robotic arms performing remote pick-and-place tasks.
Tech Mahindra plans to build a dedicated robotics and automation practice on the Viam platform and train large groups of its engineers.
