Visteon Launches D6Sigma Edge AI Line for Factory Floors, Built With Qualcomm

What happened: Visteon Corporation has introduced D6Sigma, an edge AI product line for industrial automation developed with Qualcomm Technologies. The line runs on Visteon’s CognitoAI-IoT platform and Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ9 Series processors. It converts multiple camera streams into operational events on the production line.

Why it matters: The system processes AI inference locally at the point of capture, reducing latency for manufacturing settings. It targets uses  such as quality inspection, line monitoring, worker safety, PPE compliance, changeover verification, and AGV/AMR traffic monitoring. One example is automatic detection of micro-stoppages that conventional systems usually fail to record.

Visteon is bringing its experience extending cockpit-derived AI and hardware capabilities into factory automation..This platform integrates Edge Impulse for MLOps, the Qualcomm Insight Platform for video analytics, and FoundriesFactory for device fleet management

Sectors such as automotive production, consumer electronics, SMT/PCB assembly, heavy manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage have long used defect detection tech. The vision systems have since then become much more sophisticated and gained wider acceptance specially with AI adding to its impact potential.
