Teledyne e2v has launched Caiman, a miniaturized imaging module aimed at surveillance, perimeter security, and scientific applications demanding reliable performance in near-zero light. At its core sits the OnyxMax sensor, engineered for high quantum efficiency in near-infrared wavelengths with noise levels low enough to operate below 1 mlx. The module packs automatic exposure control, histogram equalization, and binning on board. Power consumption stays under 1W , keeping latency low for real-time monitoring. Caiman uses a MIPI interface, connecting directly with standard SoC platforms common in modern digital vision architectures. The CMOS design allows 24/7 deployment across light conditions without switching sensor hardware.
