What happened: Hypertherm Associates a US based manufacturer of Industrial cutting systems and software, launched MAXPRO200 FlushCut consumables designed for thick-metal removal applications. The liquid-cooled consumables enable cutting capacity up to 64 mm thick mild steel. The system removes attachments including pad eyes, D-rings, lifting lugs, and alignment fixtures. MAXPRO200 plasma cutters support handheld torches, mechanized carriages, tractors, X-Y cutting tables, and robotic cutting systems.
Why it matters: The consumables remove attachments up to 90 percent faster than traditional oxyfuel methods while reducing grinding by up to 40 percent without damaging base material. The drag cutting feature simplifies training and addresses skilled labor challenges. The design reduces noise and fume exposure compared to oxyfuel and carbon arc gouging methods.
Industry context: The technology targets industries including shipbuilding, mining, structural steel, and heavy equipment fabrication. Hypertherm expanded its FlushCut portfolio across MAXPRO200 and Powermax plasma cutters to provide performance for thin to thick materials in demanding fabrication environments. The company manufactures industrial cutting products including plasma and waterjet systems used in building ships, airplanes, railcars, steel buildings, and wind turbines.
Our take : Hypertherm’s FlushCut expansion into higher-capacity systems addresses heavy industrial applications requiring thick material processing. As indicated by the company the field trials generated operator acceptance prior to commercial release.
