Covestro has signed agreements with Hikrobot and Shanghai Carthane , pushing deeper into robotics integrating beyond its traditional role as a material supplier. The deals cover smart logistics, factory automation, and advanced component development.
In the Hikrobot partnership, both companies will co-develop parcel sorting and e-commerce systems using Covestro materials and its R&D knowhow. Hikrobot which specializes in machine vision and mobile automation, will prioritize use of Covestro’s material solutions across its product lines.
The Carthane collaboration targets robot feet and joints—high-stress components that need impact resistance and durability. Covestro is promoting its Vulkollan elastomer for load-bearing applications where traditional materials fail under repeated stress.
For Covestro these partnerships helps it embed itself earlier in design cycles as robotics hit industrial scale across China’s logistics and manufacturing sectors. At the Shanghai show, Covestro also displayed a flying car developed by Chinese partner GOVY, highlighting its push into emerging mobility applications.
