What happened: The proposed automotive manufacturing facility in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – spans approximately 87,652 square meters on a single land plot. Construction is underway with phased development. The facility will produce automotive components for global operations and third-party OEM customers.
Why it matters: Potentially serving as a regional manufacturing and export the site will leverage Abu Dhabi logistics infrastructure, connectivity through AD Ports Group, to access regional and global markets. The partnership strengthens supply chain integration across the automotive sector.
Industry context: Abu Dhabi is on a path to further industrial diversification to expand non-oil exports and strengthen local supply chains. Government is attracting high-value manufacturing and coordinated infrastructure, connectivity, and business support creates that sweet spot. The Middle East’s geographic positioning enables efficient market access across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Our take: The facility positions Motherson to serve multiple markets while contributing to Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification strategy.
