ABS and HD KSOE partner on digital shipbuilding and vessel intelligence systems

What happened: ABS and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering signed an MOU  to collaborate on digital technologies for shipbuilding. The agreement establishes a framework for Digital Threads work across the vessel value chain. Focus areas include digital engineering, autonomous vessel systems, and integrated cybersecurity tools.

Why it matters: The partnership will explore 3D model-based approval and trusted data exchange between shipyard and classification society. The collaboration examines integration between HD KSOE’s Software Defined Vessel architecture and ABS Wavesight platform. Both organizations will jointly develop cybersecurity and data safety guidelines for autonomous vessel environments.
