CG Power and Industrial Solutions has expanded its industrial automation portfolio with the AMX Series, a new range of AC drives aimed at applications where motor control has to deliver more than basic speed regulation.
The range is designed for both induction and permanent-magnet motors and combines V/F and field-oriented control (FOC). The focus is practical: higher starting torque, responsive control at low frequencies and stable operation under demanding loads. The drives cover 1.5 kW to 55 kW in three-phase, 230-480 V configurations and are manufactured at CG’s Mandideep facility in Madhya Pradesh.
What makes the AMX range notable is the amount of functionality built into the drive itself. Load monitoring, timers, counters and virtual I/Os can support application logic without additional hardware, while an integrated oscilloscope gives maintenance and engineering teams a way to examine drive behaviour and waveforms during operation.
CG has also designed the series for harsh industrial environments. The drives use conformal coating and are rated for operation at ambient temperatures up to 50°C without derating. Braking functions include an integrated brake chopper on models up to 45 kW, alongside vector braking for controlled stopping. An energy-saving function can also reduce unnecessary motor operation.
The launch also fits CG’s broader push into industrial drives and automation. Company management has previously described its low-voltage drive portfolio as largely indigenous, signalling an effort to build deeper domestic capability in a segment increasingly important to Indian manufacturing.
