What happened: SKF India’s industrial division has launched CeraDrive, a motor solution built on hybrid ceramic bearing technology. The product combines steel and silicon nitride to cut friction, block electrical damage, and keep motors running cooler and more stably. It targets downtime, maintenance costs, and energy efficiency in demanding operating conditions.
Why it matters: CeraDrive addresses electrical erosion, overheating, premature bearing failure, and frequent maintenance shutdowns, particularly in motors running at higher speeds and electrical loads. SKF lists performance gains of up to 99% protection against electrical erosion, up to 50% lower friction, up to 25% higher operating speeds, up to eight times longer grease life, and four to ten times extended bearing life.
