Tembo Global Industries has crossed a significant regulatory milestone: its subsidiary, Tembo Classic Engineering, now holds a manufacturing license from the Ministry of Home Affairs to produce ammunition across multiple calibers. The approval marks the company’s formal entry into India’s defence supply chain.
The move fits within India’s ongoing push to bring private players into a segment long dominated by state-owned firms. Tembo already has land allocated in Amravati for a dedicated defence manufacturing facility. The license also opens the door to export markets, where demand for ammunition remains consistent. For Tembo, the shift from engineering services to active defence manufacturing reflects where the opportunity now lies — in government procurement reform and a growing international appetite for Indian-made defence equipment.
