Schaeffler has taken the Hermes Award at Hannover Messe 2026 for a modular actuator platform designed for humanoid robot joints.Schaeffler’s platform integrates electric motors with power electronics, high-precision encoders, and configurable two-stage planetary or strain wave gears. By integrating the bearing into the rotor, the footprint shrinks by 20 percent and weight drops by up to 500 grams, delivering up to 10mm more compact dimensions than competing approaches while maintaining high continuous torque. The platform covers rotary actuators for shoulders, elbows, and knees.
