Path Robotics Launches a Mobile Welding Robot

Path Robotics has launched Rove, a mobile welding system that mounts its Obsidian AI platform onto a quadruped robot. This system will come handy in industries like  shipbuilding, heavy construction, and large-scale fabrication, where parts are often too large or fixed to bring to a welding cell.

Rove uses real-time sensor data to locate weld seams, adjust parameters on the fly, and handle inconsistent fit-up.Legged robots have historically struggled with the stability demands of precision welding, but Path says its AI perception layer compensates for this, enabling reliable operation on large, immovable assemblies. Path Robotics, which has raised over $300 million since 2018, demonstrated the system at the Sea-Air-Space 2026 maritime expo in National Harbor, Maryland.
