Jaykay Enterprises has acquired Patange Industries, a Pune-based manufacturer of warhead systems, tightening its position in India’s defence supply chain.
Patange already supplies BrahMos Aerospace and Bharat Dynamics Limited, both of which are existing Jaykay customers. That overlap is the strategic logic: absorbing a supplier already serving the same clients allows Jaykay to offer more integrated subsystem packages and potentially consolidate margins across the value chain.
The deal deepens Jaykay’s warhead integration capabilities and extends its footprint across more of the missile subsystem stack. India’s defence manufacturing sector is expanding — driven by domestic procurement policies — and supplier consolidation is becoming a practical response to that growth. Primes want fewer, more capable vendors, not longer supply chains.
This move brings in a critical supplier in-house and reduces dependency on an external vendor for components going into high-value programmes. The broader signal is one of maturation in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem — companies aren’t just winning contracts, they’re restructuring to deliver on them more reliably.
