What happened: FAULHABER has added two low-noise models to its GPT gearhead family, the 22GPT LN and 32GPT LN. Both are built for settings where reduced operating noise matters, such as laboratories, optical devices, medical equipment, and testing and measuring systems.
Why it matters: The models use an optimized design with a plastic input gear stage, cutting noise by up to 10 dB versus standard versions while retaining torque density and form factor. The 22GPT LN delivers up to 2.2 Nm and the 32GPT LN up to 8 Nm in intermittent operation. They handle occasional peak torques of 4 Nm and 12 Nm respectively.
Industry context: Both feature a stainless-steel housing for protection in demanding conditions and operate across a temperature range of –30 °C to +110 °C. They maintain efficiency under frequent or sudden load changes, suiting them to high-torque motors. The GPT series covers diameters from 14 to 42 mm and can combine with motors including the BXT brushless family without extra connecting elements.
Our take: Noise-sensitive sectors such as medical and lab automation gain a quieter option without sacrificing torque. The emphasis on price-performance signals a push for broader adoption beyond premium applications.
