Loop Industries, Inc., set up in 2010 by Daniel Solomita and headquartered in Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada, is a clean technology company focused on accelerating a circular plastics economy. Its patented Infinite Loop™ technology depolymerizes low-value and waste PET plastics and polyester fibers—such as bottles, packaging, carpets, textiles, and ocean plastics—into their base monomers (DMT and MEG). These monomers are purified and repolymerized into virgin-quality Loop™ branded rPET resin and polyester fiber, suitable for food-grade packaging and textiles. The process reduces carbon emissions by up to 70% compared to virgin PET production. A joint venture with Ester Industries Ltd. in India, announced in 2024, aims to build a 70,000-tonne rPET facility by 2027, targeting the $28 billion DMT and MEG market.
