Founded in 2016 by Jeffrey Cardenas, Luis Sentis, Bill Helmsing, and Nicholas Paine as a spin-out from the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin, Apptronik, Inc. is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company develops AI-powered humanoid robots, chiefly Apollo, a 5'8", 160-lb bipedal robot built for logistics and manufacturing tasks such as case picking, palletizing, and machine tending. Apollo, built on experience from NASA's Valkyrie robot, integrates with Google DeepMind's AI models (such as Gemini) and NVIDIA's Project GR00T for advanced reasoning. Serving the automotive, logistics, and electronics industries, Apptronik runs commercial pilots with Mercedes-Benz, GXO Logistics, and Jabil, with plans for elder care and healthcare applications.
