Founded in 1954 as Takeda Riken Industry Co., Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan, Advantest Corporation is a global leader in automatic test equipment (ATE) for semiconductors. Renamed Advantest in 1985, it specialises in SoC and memory test systems such as the V93000 EXA Scale and T5801, supporting 5G, IoT, AI, and autonomous vehicles. Operating in 18 countries, including subsidiaries such as Advantest America (1982) and Advantest Europe (1983), it employs around 6,464 people. The company acquired Verigy in 2011, Essai in 2020, R&D Altanova in 2021, CREA in 2022, and Salland Engineering in 2024 to broaden its test capabilities. Its three segments - Semiconductor and Component Test Systems (around 70% of sales), Mechatronics (handlers), and Services - deliver solutions for wafer sort, final test, and system-level testing. It also makes SEMs for photomask manufacturing and launched the Semiconductor Test Consortium in 2002. Recent partnerships, such as one with Emerson in 2025, focus on AI-driven test ecosystems.
