BITS Pilani has opened a Smart Manufacturing Competency Centre in Bengaluru, marking its second major facility launch this year after Chennai’s Automotive Competency Centre went live in February.
The new facility targets hands-on training in mechatronics, IIoT, AI-driven manufacturing, digital twins, and industrial robotics. Labs cover Industry 4.0 and 5.0 systems, machine vision, extended reality, and rapid prototyping.
Companies and MSMEs can test and validate manufacturing solutions before deploying them on actual production floors.
The centre caters to aerospace, defence, electronics, automotive, and advanced manufacturing sectors. Beyond student training, it offers upskilling pathways for working professionals and faculty development programmes.
The facility became operational this month, with initial programmes already accepting participants from industry and academia.
