Fanuc released the CRX-3iA, a 24-pound collaborative robot designed to be hand-carried between workstations. Built for high-mix production where permanent installations don’t provide the best coverage.
The 3-kilogram payload cobot handles welding, assembly, screwdriving, and inspection. Workers move it, set it up in minutes, and redeploy it. Supports magnetic bases, wall and ceiling mounts with auto angle detection—no manual config.
Fanuc also upgraded its CRX lineup. The CRX-30iA now palletizes up to 40 kg payloads with a new high-flow air kit for large suction grippers.New “Triangle Weave” profile enables vertical-up welding by countering weld-puddle sag. Dual nut runner support doubles fastener throughput.
The CRX series works with Fanuc’s R-50iA controller, adding support for auxiliary axis positioners for coordinated welding and laser work. All models maintain collaborative safety while boosting productivity in variable production runs.
The move reflects industry demand for portable automation that scales across distributed workstations without heavy integration work.
