Siemens Launches  Agent to code Automation Systems

Eigen Engineering Agent, an AI system that writes PLC code and configures industrial systems autonomously. It plugs into TIA Portal and generates production-ready outputs without human hand-holding.

The tool handles SCL and LAD code generation, HMI scripting, bulk configuration changes, and syntax debugging. It validates its own work before delivering results. Over 100 companies piloted it across 19 countries before general release.

Workflows run two to five times faster than manual methods, with 80 percent better quality and 50 percent higher efficiency. The system reads project structures—blocks, parameters, component relationships—and produces code that fits existing standards. Onboarding that now be more seamless and hence faster as new engineers can  query  the system directly instead of studying documentation.

Unlike generic AI assistants, Eigen operates inside live engineering environments with full project context. It breaks tasks into steps, self-corrects, and iterates until performance benchmarks hit. Siemens positions this as engineers shifting from writing code to orchestrating AI workflows. It is available for Siemens TIA Portal users globally.
