Hyd Based Cyient Takes 74% Stake in US Chip Firm

Cyient Semiconductors has closed a deal to acquire a controlling stake in California-based Kinetic Technologies, marking a significant push into the power semiconductor space. The transaction, valued at $85 million (approximately ₹782 crore), gives the Hyderabad company a 74% ownership position in the US firm.

Kinetic brings more than 100 silicon-proven intellectual properties and over 250 custom products to the table, specializing in power management and protection integrated circuits. The acquisition allows Cyient to tap into a $44 billion global market for power and compute infrastructure chips.

The deal was executed through Cyient’s Singapore subsidiary and marks a shift toward building custom silicon and application-specific standard products. Kinetic will retain its existing management team while and will benefit from engineering resources and access to the Indian semiconductor ecosystem that Cyient adds.

For Cyient, the move provides immediate commercial scale in high-growth markets including automotive, communications, and artificial intelligence. The company gains access to Kinetic’s established customer base while adding depth to its spec-to-silicon engineering capabilities.

Kinetic’s portfolio addresses critical applications across data centers, industrial systems, and communications infrastructure. The company’s strength in power conversion, display power, and interface solutions complements Cyient’s ambitions to build a globally competitive semiconductor platform anchored in India.
