Shield Ai : Building the Simulation backbone for Autonomous Warfare

US based Shield is valued at $12 billion as of its current round when it raised  $2 billion from a mix of equity and financing from its institutional investors.

Company made its funding announcement a few days back on 26th  March  along with its plan to acquire Aechelon, a company based in California, US.

Why is Aechelon important :

The core at the acquisition is to deepen its simulation capabilities which are central to modern defence scenarios .Aechelon specialises in high fidelity , synthetic environments  and physics based sensor modeling . Its technology is used by defence systems for its realistic virtual environments .

About Shield

Shield founded in 2015 develops ai powered autonomy software and defence systems for protecting military personnel and people at large, its hero product Hivemind is an Ai pilot for drones and aircraft. The company has deep defence contracts which has helped it scale and consolidate its presence into autonomous warefare.

Autonomy software is essentially the brain that allows machines to operate on their own without ongoing human control , it senses the environment , makes real time decisions  and takes actions. It uses sensors to get the context and uses Ai & algorithms to plan its own course.

With this acquisition Shield has closed the loop on Simulation and Autonomy, which helps it shorten development cycles, widen testing scenarios to become a key player in next-gen defence tech.
