Komaki has commissioned its 2nd battery plant with a capacity of 1L batteries a yr.
Safety Profile:
The plant will manufacture LFP and LMFP batteries, which are considered safer ( with better chemistry ) for the Indian environment because of higher thermal stability profiles. The battery also offers longer lifecycle and better fire protection all making it a good fit and reduced the overall cost of ownership for the customer.
Why put a battery plant : For the EV manufacturer the battery plant is a logical backword integrations especially as battery accounts to 40% of the EV cost. It helps control costs and helps improve margin in a tightly contested and low differentiation affordable EV segment.
It also substitutes imports and reduces dependency on global factors by localising this critical component and keeps the price fluctuations – due to global shocks under some check.
About Komaki: Komaki is. an Indian EV manufacturer , primarily focused on electric 2W and 3W, known as a player in the affordable segment helping with mass urban mobility solutions.
It is known to be an aggressive player with rapid product expansion and fully leveraged the governments push for Make in India.
