Automatic transfer switches have traditionally had one job: move a critical load from one power source to another when the primary supply fails. Socomec is adding more intelligence around that basic function with its new ATyS P700 and ATyS P1000.
The two new automatic transfer switching equipment (ATSE) ranges cover 800 A to 4,000 A and combine source monitoring, transfer switching, power control and the controller in a single unit. Socomec says the integrated design reduces external equipment and wiring, while simplifying commissioning and operation.
Both models are Class PC ATSE products certified to IEC 60947-6-1 and support AC-33A switching for demanding loads. Socomec specifies transfer times below 100 ms, short-circuit withstand capability up to 85 kA and making capacity up to 187 kA. That positions the range for data centres, healthcare facilities, industrial sites and other installations where a power interruption can quickly become an operational problem. The bigger step comes with the ATyS P1000.
It integrates Class 0.5 electrical measurement, embedded sensors, diagnostics and event recording directly into the transfer switch. Maintenance teams can therefore see source quality, transfer events and equipment condition without relying entirely on separate monitoring equipment.
The P1000 also offers closed-transition switching for applications where maintaining continuity during transfer is critical. It synchronises the secondary source before disconnecting the primary one. If synchronisation conditions are not met, the system automatically switches to open transition for safe operation.
