Spectris has completed its acquisition of Sentech, adding a specialist sensor business to its Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK) platform as demand grows for high-performance sensing in critical industrial applications.
The deal, first announced in July, received the required US regulatory clearances now and Sentech with operations in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, will now become part of HBK.
Sentech brings highly engineered sensor technologies and technical expertise that complement HBK’s existing portfolio. The combined business will target markets including power generation, aerospace and defence, space and other high-performance industrial applications.
HBK has a broader role in the test and measurement market, Its portfolio already spans strain, force, load, torque, pressure and vibration sensing, along with data acquisition, testing, simulation and engineering software. The company works across product development, manufacturing testing and in-service monitoring.
Adding Sentech therefore gives Spectris another specialised sensor capability which is its recent focus on building technology businesses around precision measurement, testing and industrial data.
HBK’s Monitor360 platform, for example, combines high-fidelity sensor data with physics-informed AI to monitor critical assets and support predictive maintenance in applications ranging from data centres to power generation.
For Sentech, joining HBK provides access to a larger global test-and-measurement platform.
