The companies have launched Aivaro AI Feature Detection, a software module integrated into Leica’s Enersight microscopy platform. It uses Cognex’s AI vision technology to automatically detect, classify and measure defects and other features of interest during inspection.
Aivaro can highlight potential defects in live or captured images, classify them and generate measurements. It can also produce statistics such as minimum, maximum and average values, giving quality teams more consistent data to work with.
Leica says the ready-to-train base model can often be trained with just five to 10 images per class. That is intended to make AI inspection easier to deploy without requiring a dedicated data-science team or a large image dataset.
The software is also designed for production environments .AI processing runs locally on standard hardware, so manufacturers do not need a continuous internet connection to analyse images or send inspection data to an external cloud.
Leica is positioning the system for applications including electronics, battery manufacturing, transportation, medical devices, and chemistry and polymer processing. The software can also reproduce microscope settings and imaging parameters, allowing inspection workflows and trained models to be shared across workstations and production lines.
