Intertek has acquired solar photovoltaic laboratory assets in Ahmedabad from Mitsui Chemicals India, bolstering its renewable energy testing infrastructure in western India.
The facility carries ISO 17025 accreditation along with BIS and IECEE CB Scheme certifications. These credentials matter in a market where compliance bottlenecks can delay product launches. By cutting down time-to-market through standardised testing, the lab directly benefits Indian solar manufacturers seeking faster quality validation and international firms navigating India’s market entry requirements.
Context matters here. India has set a target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030, with solar accounting for 280 GW of that. Meeting those numbers demands a robust, high-throughput testing ecosystem. That’s precisely the gap Intertek is moving to fill.
The Ahmedabad acquisition extends Intertek CEA’s existing solar portfolio, which already includes aerial drone inspections and plant performance assessments — making the offering more end-to-end for solar developers operating at scale.
Western India is a critical geography in India’s solar buildout, and Intertek’s expanded presence there puts it closer to manufacturers and project developers who need faster, credible testing support. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
