Wipro appoints Nagendra Bandaru as CEO of AI segment

Wipro has appointed Nagendra Bandaru as CEO of its newly created artificial intelligence (AI) segment, signalling a stronger strategic push into AI-led business models.

Bandaru, a long-time company veteran, will lead the development of agentic AI solutions and new AI-driven business streams within the organisation. The move comes as Wipro restructures its operations to align more closely with emerging AI opportunities and enterprise demand.

The new AI unit is designed to build and scale AI-native platforms, while also incubating new offerings through an “invest-build-partner” approach. This positions AI as a standalone growth engine for the company.

Alongside this leadership change, Wipro also announced the exit of the head of its “Americas 2” business unit, indicating a broader organisational realignment.

For Wipro, this marks a decisive shift as the company aims to accelerate innovation while ensuring continuity in execution as it competes in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
