Tata Communications and RailTel Partner to Build AI-Ready Infrastructure

Tata Communications and RailTel Corporation have formed a strategic partnership to strengthen India’s digital backbone for artificial intelligence and next-generation services. The collaboration combines RailTel’s 63,000-route-kilometer optical fiber network with Tata Communications’ global cloud and cybersecurity platforms.

The partnership announced integrates RailTel’s national telecom infrastructure, which connects over 6,000 railway stations, with Tata Communications’ digital fabric spanning network services, cloud platforms, and security capabilities. The association aims to modernize network infrastructure, enhance cybersecurity, and enable secure sovereign cloud adoption for sensitive government workloads.

RailTel, a Navaratna PSU, serves as an information and communication technology partner for government departments, public sector organizations, banks, and educational institutions. The partnership provides an opportunity to deliver advanced services across its existing offerings in data centers, managed services, cloud, and cybersecurity.

For Tata Communications, the association facilitates extension of its digital infrastructure into critical public and enterprise environments at national scale. The collaboration supports some of India’s most important digital services across government operations.

The collaboration arrives as India rapidly expands digital infrastructure to support AI, cloud computing, 5G services, and enterprise digitization. Resilient networks, edge computing, and secure data frameworks are becoming critical as government services and businesses expand their reliance on digital technologies.
