Siemens Unveils LOGO! 9 Logic Controller

Siemens has launched LOGO! 9, marking the first major overhaul of its compact logic controller platform in over a decade. The device targets building automation and small-scale industrial applications where straightforward switching and control tasks don’t justify deploying full-scale programmable logic controllers.

The ninth generation doubles function block capacity to 800, enabling significantly more complex logic applications without adding external control devices. Expansion capacity grows to 64 digital inputs, 60 digital outputs, and 16 analog inputs and outputs each—creating headroom for larger projects that previously required multiple controllers.

A new color touchscreen display with 320×240 pixel resolution sits directly on the base module, delivering clearer diagnostics and faster operation. For applications requiring enhanced visualization, Siemens offers a 4.3-inch LOGO! text display with 480×272 resolution, dual Ethernet ports, and secure communication to the base module.

The controller introduces Secure Boot and encrypted communication protocols to prevent unauthorized manipulation and access—addressing security concerns that weren’t prominent when the previous generation shipped. Firmware updates deploy through LOGO! Soft Comfort software, and factory reset functionality preserves IP settings for streamlined maintenance.LOGO! 9 becomes available starting April 1, 2026, and will be showcased at the Light + Building trade fair in Frankfurt.
