Schaeffler Partners with Chinese Robotics Firm to Advance Industrial Humanoid Development

Schaeffler has entered a partnership with Leju Robotics, marking its first collaboration with a Chinese company in the humanoid robotics space. The German motion technology specialist is positioning itself as a key component supplier as the industrial humanoid sector gains momentum.

The partnership targets practical industrial applications: factory inspection, equipment operation support, logistics handling, and human-robot collaboration scenarios.

Schaeffler portfolio for humanoid applications spans rolling bearings, screw drives, precision gears, motors, sensors, thermal management, and battery systems—essentially covering actuators, motion control, energy management, and sensing requirements. The company also brings expertise across twelve core manufacturing technologies, from metalworking to additive manufacturing, crucial for scaling humanoid production beyond prototypes.

Schaeffler plans to integrate several thousands of humanoids into its own production facilities by 2035, giving the company direct operational experience with the technology.

Leju Robotics brings R&D capabilities plus experience in industrial-scale manufacturing of humanoid systems. The collaboration will focus on collecting operational data, iterating models, and advancing next-generation technology.
